Vehicle Activated Speed Signs (VAS).
Thank you to residents that let us know when the VAS batteries run out. We do try to change them regularly. If there are any volunteers that would like to help us care for our electronic speed signs please, we would be very grateful. The job involves occasional charging of the VAS battery (approx. £5 a charge – claimable from expenses), donning a high vis, popping along with a ladder, unlocking the VAS, swapping the battery round and giving the screen a wipe with a wet wipe. Glamorous! Our helpers always work in pairs and generally have a bit of a laugh and it really does make a difference to our community. The speed signs have been proven to slow down visitors and also renew the guilt factor for the locals. Our residents in High Green have been helping with the VAS for nearly a decade now and without any of our volunteers we would not be able to use this valuable equipment for the good of the parish. Thank you as always to the National Trust, the Police Crime Commissioner, Highways, our County Councillor and our residents, all for contributing and match funding to provide these signs over the years.Vehicle Activated Speed Signs (VAS).
